Contact our office for assistance with putting these together in an order that maximizes your experience. 2-Day Whitewater Rafting and the Pacuare River, Central Highlands Whitewater Rafting on the Pacuare River is a trip of pure magic, unsurpassed beauty, exuberant wildlife and great rapids. Along its course lie several densely vegetated gorges, which shelter ocelots, monkeys, sloths and a large variety of birds. Warm water and breathtaking scenery combine to make an unforgettable trip. Though there are Class IV (intermediate level) rapids on this river, an adventurous first-time rafter will enjoy themselves. ![]() ![]() Rising over a mile in height, Arenal Volcano in the northwestern region of Costa Rica offers visitors a rare opportunity to view one of the world's most active volcanoes. After sleeping quietly for over 400 years Arenal erupted with tremendous force during July 29-31, 1968. The best place to observe all of the volcano's various activities is from the nearby Arenal Observatory Lodge. There are many optional day tours from the lodge that you may enjoy.
One of Costa Rica's highlights includes a visit to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve - the richest, and most complex tropical cloud forest in the New World. It is best known as home to the Resplendent Quetzal but protects hundreds of other birds, mammals and plant species as well as reptiles, amphibians and insects. Your tour includes several guided ½-day tours. ![]() Tortuguero shelters a fabulous array of wildlife, including more than 300 bird species, among them the great green macaw; 57 species of amphibians and 111 of reptiles, including three species of marine turtles; 60 mammal species, including 13 of Costa Rica's 16 endangered species, including jaguars, tapirs, ocelots, cougars, river otters, and manatees. The wide-open canals make viewing easier than at many other parks--superb for spotting crocodiles, and giant iguanas. Boat in/Fly out.
Located on the northern border of Corcovado National Park, these lodges allow you access into Corcovado National Park, and Isla del Cano, a small island 13 miles offshore. Corcovado National Park has been called "the most biologically intense place on earth" by National Geographic. This famous Park is home to many large mammals - jaguar, tapir, ocelot, collared and white-lipped peccaries, giant anteaters - and an incredible number of birds. Here visitors have the best chance to actually see this tropical wildlife, or at least have the thrill of seeing some recent sign of them and knowing that they are in the habitat of these majestic creatures. Corcovado is lowland tropical forest which means the climate is extremely hot and humid and at certain times of the day there will be annoying, biting insects.
The Costa Rican west coast (from puntarenas and north to guanacaste) is just one beach after the other. Costa Rica, especially on this west coast is THE place for beach lovers. Manuel Antonio Beach is one of the prettiest and has a wonderful National Park right there. There are many optional activities to participate inrafting, sea kayaking, hiking, cultural tours, canopy tours, and just relaxing. 4-Day Tiskita Jungle Lodge, Southern Pacific Coast Tiskita Jungle Lodge is a 550-acre private rain forest reserve in the remote region of Golfito on the Southern Pacific Coast just across the gulf from Corcovado National Park, with miles of rain forest trails. Explore fresh water jungle pools and walk for miles along beautiful, isolated beaches as well as visit a local village accessible only by sea. The bird watching is fabulous with over 285 species identified. Horseback riding and local guided hikes can be arranged. Tiskita is also an experimental tropical fruit farm with over 100 exotic fruit varieties available to sample.
